Good carbs for losing weight

Written by Marsha

Removing completely the carbs in order to have a healthy diet is a wrong concept many women follow because they think carbs are responsible for putting on weight. Indeed, carbs are responsible for this process but while some of them favor fat deposits some are very good in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and helping losing weight.

Bad Carbohydrates

All products made of white flour (bread, croissants, paste, vermicelli, noodles, pastry, pizza and cakes) consist of bad carbohydrates. They are not nutritive at all, they only overfill our stomach and help in gaining weight. Also, they are slow digesting and reduce the metabolism functions. For the beginning they must be consumed with moderation and easily reduced from the daily diet.

Good Carbohydrates

Fruits and vegetables are the best source of good carbohydrates. You have to consume as many fresh vegetables as possible, like cauliflower, broccoli, cucumbers, spinach, cabbage, pepper, mushrooms, beans, leek, carrots, lentils. Among fruits, the best carbohydrates are contained in melons, apples, apricots, blackberries, cranberries, kiwi, plums and so on. Natural fresh drinks made of fruits and vegetables (without any sugar addition)as well are full of vitamins and healthy ingredients that your body needs.

Dried bean

It is full of proteins and fibers, substances that make the satiety last longer. In comparison with other ingredients, bean is as rich in proteins as chicken meat, fish or eggs. Try to eat salads containing bean and avoid alimentary combinations that can bring you unhappy kilograms. For example, avoid eating bean and meat together as well as fatty foods. In a losing weight process is it recommended to eat only a cup of boiled bean daily.

Lentil

Because it doesn’t contain fats and it’s rich in proteins and carbs, many nutritionists recommend lentil in healthy diets. This is also good for accelerating the metabolism and for avoiding indigestion. A cup of lentil is enough for giving you full energy for a long day and I will also prevent you from eating unhealthy snacks and sweets because of its satiety.

Oat

Many studies showed that oat is one of the most efficient types of cereals when it comes to losing weight. Oat represents an excellent source of proteins, healthy unsaturated fats, B vitamin, calcium and magnesium. Also, they improve our abilities giving us more energy. If consumed in the morning, oat flakes are good for preventing indigestion and reduce the level of cholesterol from the blood. How to consume oat? During breakfast, with milk or yogurt. 100 grams of oat contain 350 calories so it’s important to eat it only in small quantities and good combinations.

Whole grains

Whole grains are rich in fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals necessary for a healthy body. It is recommended for women who are trying to regain their slimness after birth. Several studies have shown that people who eat at least three servings of whole grains per day (one serving representing a slice of bread and 50 grams of cereals) and minimize refined cereals and white bread, have at least 20% less abdominal fat than those who do not follow this rule.

  • Awesome write-up! It’s so rare to see people champion carbs in today’s gluten-free world. Strange how silly fads with no basis can have an entire industry shunning perfectly good foods.
